So I know “slut shaming” has been a topic of discussion for a lot of people lately. As much as one person might criticize a girl for sleeping with different people, another might criticize someone like me for not having sex with other people. As far as I see it, to each her/his own. It has nothing to do with gender or life choices. It’s another person’s immaturity if they think they have room to judge someone else’s life. Basically, it’s up to you to realize that no matter what someone says to or about you, it’s just a testament to their character not yours. Them making judgmental comments about you speaks worlds more about their character than yours. As long as you don’t let it bother you, it’s not your problem.

And this certainly isn’t limited to to issues of sex; you can apply it to any situation, really. Part of being the “bigger person” is just knowing when to not let someone’s words affect you.

I love this city more than anything. There’s nowhere I’d rather be. This city only feels like home because you can go anywhere and see familiar faces; faces who will greet you and strike up a conversation just for the hell of it. I spend my time in bars that I’m sure violate oh-so many building codes, where you might have an encounter with some rats in the parking lot, and where you can’t really be sure what color the walls were supposed to be in the first place. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.
